The only suburb I really know about is clearwater. I like it pretty well, though US19 is a pain and some of the people there are a bit mean. This is one of the places I’m thinking of moving. Please tell me any or all of the following?
1. How are the public schools?
2. How bad is the commute from the place you reccomend to Tampa?
3. Is the crime high or low
4. How expensive is it to live there overall?

My family and I are considering moving to the Tampa area this summer, and I need some advice as to where to buy a home. My wife would be attending graduate school at USF in St. Petersburg. I’m assuming that I’d probably find a job in or near downtown Tampa. Where are good places to live that are within, say, a 40-minute commute of both these locations? I have two small children, so I’d like to be in an area with good schools, and that provides age-appropriate activities, such as swimming lessons at a county pool, children’s ballet, playgrounds, etc. Also, I’d like to spend around $550,000-$650,000 on a home. Part of the problem is that I don’t know what traffic is like, and how long it will take to get around during rush hour. For example, places like Ruskin and Palm Harbor seem to be equadistant to both St. Pete and Tampa, but I don’t know how long the commute will be (or whether they are good places to raise kids).
